What do we do, we preach

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and today we went out in service. Wednesday we went out all day and then on the other three days, we only went out in the mornings. Each day, we walked to the Kingdom Hall. We do have access to bicycles but Nate needs to clean them first so we have been walking.

House for sale, no steps

For now, we are meeting with the Kriol brothers and sisters. We hope to do some days in the deaf ministry with the other need greater family that is here and to include some of the local friends.

We meet and then the CO puts us with a preaching partner. Then its to the territory. Half of the whole group will work in one area. You may walk to the territory or ride there and then walk house to house. Once you reach a house, you and your partner will call out to the house a greeting depending on the time of day (Morning! Afternoon!). Some houses are gated so you stand at the gate and call out. Otherwise, you stand at the side of the road and then call out. Most houses have dogs, some leashed, some not. So you stand there and call out until the householder appears and then you approach if it is safe to do so. Sometimes the dog doesn't care about you, sometimes you're thankful there is a fence between you.

Our Kingdom Hall

This brother is ready to go out

I guess this sister is ready too...

The little girl on the right looked exactly like my friend's daughter, Vale, when she was little

Since this is a Kriol congregation, we have literature in Kriol. So you share a scripture and then offer a tract or meeting invite in Kriol. You may meet someone who prefers to read English or who speaks Spanish.

On Wednesday we went out to eat in between morning service and the afternoon meeting. We went to a local Chinese restaurant with some locals and the other need greater family.

Chinese restaurant menu - inside was so many pictures! I had the shrimp burger and Nate had chicken and chips (fries)

Wishwilly lizard. There were several pillars in front of this house and there was a lizard on top of three of the pillars.

Nate & his new gang

4 miles on Wednesday, 7 on Thursday

And the reward once you reach home... a home cooked dinner. This was Wednesday's dinner - barracuda steak, rice & beans & fried plantain. (So. Yum.)

On Thursday afternoon, us and the family went to a local family's house and they showed us hospitality. We enjoyed chicken curry, rice and green banana salad. After that, we went to the beach at the lagoon.

Where we are, we can go to the beach, the real beach, but you have to take a water taxi to get there. We haven't gone yet. Instead, we walked to the water's edge. You can swim but there isn't a true beach where you can lay out.

On Friday afternoon, we rested since we have walked our quota of miles for the week! Nate was invited to the elders, servants meeting so while he went to that, I stayed with the sister that is our landlady. She made tamales while we talked.
