Photos and stories from the week Feb 12-19

So the past month has been a lot of routine... beach day and then preaching days. I do try to keep up with daily highlights on WhatsApp but sometimes it just seems like who wants to see another picture of what I had for breakfast?!

So here is a photo dump and highlights from this week and then I'll be posting for the other weeks.

We have been trying to get out and do more things. The sun sets between 6, 6:30 so that leaves a lot of time before bed. We don't have a car so we try to walk or bike home before sunset. We don't have a TV at home so sitting on a couch and watching streamed movies on your laptop isn't exciting every evening. That being said, if we don't go out during the day for the beach or for preaching, you can spend the whole day at home, because others work and have lives of their own.

So we have been trying to find activities that either we can do by ourselves out of the house or certainly that others can join us on. So there is a local hotel - the Toucan Inn and they have different specials most evenings in their restaurant. It is very nice, clean, indoors and has AC.

Nate at Taco Thursday night at the Toucan Inn - quesabirria tacos for $3.50 each ($1.75US)

And yes Thursday is our meeting night, hence the reason why he's dressed up!

I was taking a video to send to our deaf sister and I took a picture instead! But here is a photo of me, since I'm often behind the camera.

Our Kingdom Hall is newly air-conditioned. So for the first few months, it was comfortable outside - think Southern California, 72 and sunny. That meant with AC on, I found myself wishing I had brought a few cardigans!

Beach Day at Placencia... I don't think I will ever tire of looking at this water!

This is our favorite spot. Not a lot of people, very close to the water but also shade.

A typical food stand

So if you zoom in, you'll see that they offer garlic butter lobster tail (!) for $20.... that's $10 US.... No, I didn't try it that day, since it was already 4pm and I didn't know how long that lobster had been sitting around... but another day

Today we went out to a village we haven't reached before. We stopped at the grocery store to go to the bathroom and the lady pointed outside. This is a new build - mens and women's bathroom. Inside there is just the toilet, toilet paper and a trash bin (when you see a lot of paper in the bin, you infer that you don't flush the toilet paper). Outside there was a spigot to wash your hands.

Abelia went first and I waited until she was all the way across. It was sturdy enough to hold us both though

This guy... so many wild turkeys here!
